Pies for everyone, except the Italians

London-based pie chain Square Pie, which currently boasts five restaurants across the capital, is gearing up for massive expansion over the next 4 years.
Founder Martin Dewey aims to have 2 day diet japan lingzhi 40 UK outlets by 2018, and intends to make use of international markets too. "Pies are really popular around australia and South Africa," he says. "There is surely an international chance of us."
Europe, despite to be the UK's closest trading partner, is less interested in pies than our crust-loving cousins across the globe, he says. "European tourists love a pie, and I think they will work well in a few parts. But Italy, not a lot."
Square Pie is following in the footsteps of Pizza Express now, launching its pies into the retail market. A new contract with Ocado and Selfridges will see the firm selling its original range alongside a mini version - the Canapie - to target the sharing and slimming markets.
"Canapies are only about 200 calories each, so you can have two along with a salad for lunch if you are watching unwanted weight," says Dewey.

The Square Pie boss hopes the brand new retail division will generate significant revenue growth this season and help the firm nudge ahead of the likes of Pieminister, and chains like EAT, that have a daily pie offering.
Canapies are going to function as the real money-spinner, however. "We've spent 5 years getting the process perfect," says Dewey. "It's require me to pay lots of grey hairs but we own the trademark and we are the first people to launch a mini pie in this way."
Founded in 2001, ?¨º3m-turnover Square Pie was among the first gourmet pie players in the shops, and it has fought off competition from rival pie chains and gourmet brands. "We've had 127 flavours of pies in the last 12 many years to discover what people really want," says Dewey.
Square Pie established a loyal following by creating pop-up restaurants at Glastonbury from 2002. The firm presently has three shops at the music festival. "That's been amazing for all of us," says Dewey.
PR stunts also have helped. When England beat the Australians at the cricket in '09, the firm come up with "humble pie", made with kangaroo and Australian Shiraz. It also made the Square Pie Olympie for Seb li ji shou diet pills Coe during the Olympics.
Today, Dewey is keen to maneuver away from the pie puns. "We wish to begin taking our pies more seriously," he says. "Jokes are fine however it feels like every brand wants to be your closest friend." His last hurrah was the Canapie, he insists. "I just couldn't resist that one."
